Carmen (Coach Carn) is the architect of the Scientific Striking program. With a martial arts lineage dating back to 1994, Carmen has spent over three decades deconstructing the mechanics of combat across North America’s elite MMA clubs and world-class programs.
A former competitor with a deep technical pedigree, Carmen holds the rank of Assistant Coach in the Scientific (Catch) Wrestling curriculum under Jake Shannon and continues his progression in 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu under Jesse Marez.
At Scientific Wrestling Canada, Carmen coordinates the fight team and leads the MMA and Striking labs. His coaching philosophy is rooted in technical precision and tactical integration—ensuring every student develops the “Scientific” edge required for high-level competition and performance.

Catch Wrestling & MMA Coach
Marco (Coach Bones) leads the Scientific Wrestling lab and coordinates the wrestling programs at Scientific Wrestling Canada. A dedicated student of combat since 1998, Marco has built a diverse technical foundation across Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Kung-Fu, and MMA, contributing to a career defined by decades of multi-disciplinary evolution.
Marco is a recognized authority in Defensive Tactics and Use of Force. As a certified instructor in Gracie Survival Tactics (Level I & II), he specializes in the real-world application of force through high-risk subject management. Marco has successfully utilized his extensive martial arts experience to resolve high-risk situations, bridging the gap between technical training and operational safety.
Marco holds the official rank of Assistant Coach in the Scientific Wrestling curriculum under Jake Shannon and continues to sharpen his skills in Catch Wrestling and 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu under Jesse Marez. In the lab, Marco is dedicated to teaching a high-pressure, aggressive style of Catch Wrestling specifically optimized for MMA. His mission is to ensure his students master a system that is biomechanically efficient and combat-proven—whether it’s used in the cage, on the mat, or in real life.

Olympic Wrestling Coach
Jordan Steen is the undisputed authority on wrestling in the city, bringing a level of technical depth that only a world-class veteran can offer. As a multi-year member of the Canadian National Team and a Commonwealth Games Bronze Medalist, Jordan has competed at the highest international peak of the sport.
What makes Jordan’s coaching unique is his ability to translate elite Olympic mechanics directly to MMA. Having trained in MMA, he has mastered the transition from pure sport to real-world combat—adapting explosive takedowns, hand-fighting, and clinch dominance for the specific demands of a fight.
Jordan chose to work exclusively with Scientific Wrestling Canada because of a shared core conviction: that elite wrestling is the true foundation of MMA. He offers a specialized blueprint for dominance that is biomechanically superior and strategically optimized for MMA—a high-performance system you simply won’t find anywhere else in the region.
