SCIENTIFIC WRESTLING
OLYMPIC WRESTLING
Our Scientific Wrestling Club curriculum features elite coaches like Olympian Jordan Steen, who competed at world class levels. He has since retired from the Olympic Team and is now the head wrestling coach at Scientific Wrestling Canada.
Our vision is to develop the best competitive U19 wrestlers in the Province and, most importantly, to set them up for success in post-secondary recruitment and beyond. We are personally invested in every athlete that walks through our doors.
Our Olympic Wrestling program will help develop effective fundamental skills to bring your wrestling to a championship level.
CATCH WRESTLING
Originally called “Catch-As-Catch-Can”; Catch Wrestling was established in 1870 as a submission wrestling sport with a “No holds barred” rule set, meaning all submissions were legal. A wrestler could beat his opponent by way of pin or submission. Catch Wrestling is truly the test of Wrestling vs Jiu-Jitsu, blending both styles together.
Although the first UFC tournament was set up to be a promotion for Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Catch Wrestlers were already dominating in Japan’s Pancrase and PRIDE FC promotions, where Legendary Catch Wrestler Billy Robinson was at the forefront teaching Catch-As-Catch-Can Wrestling to superstars like Kazushi Sakuraba “The Gracie Hunter” and Josh “The Warmaster” Barnett. Billy is still considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He was a seven-time Professional Wrestling Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Scientific Wrestling Head Coach Jake Shannon lived and studied under Billy Robinson for seven years before Billy’s passing. Coach Jake has taken Billy’s entire curriculum and created Scientific Wrestling.
We strongly believe that Catch Wrestling is the most effective form of grappling for MMA, due its strong wrestling foundation using devastating pressure and submissions.
